Inheritance Class 10 Notes
Important Complete Notes on Chapter No.15: Biology Class 10 Chapter 6 Notes written by Professor Mr. Adnan Haider. These computerized notes are very helpful in the preparation of Support and Movement Class 10 Notes for Biology Class 10 Chapter 6 Notes of the 10th class Biology and these are according to the paper patterns of all Punjab boards.
Summary and Contents:
Topics which are discussed in the notes are given below:
- Important 10th class biology chapter 6 mcqs for all students of Punjab Textbook Board.
- Very Important Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) with Answers of the Chapter No. 15: Inheritance Class 10 Notes in Biology English Medium Class 10th Punjab Book Boards.
- Important 10 class biology chapter 6 mcqs for all students of Punjab Textbook Board.
- What is meant by inheritance?
- How does the DNA of chromosome work?
- Write two points of Watson-crick model of DNA.
- Important class 10 biology chapter 6 mcqs with answers for all students of Punjab Textbook Board.
- What is the difference between transcription and translation?
- What is difference between homozygous genotype and heterozygous genotype?
- Important class 10 biology chapter 6 notes for all students of Punjab Textbook Board.
- DNA is replicated before a cell divides. It is done to make the copies of the chromatids of
chromosomes. During replication, DNA double helix is unwound and the two stands are
separated, much like the two sides of a zipper. Each stand act as template to produce
another strand.
- Important biology chapter 6 class 10 notes for all students of Punjab Textbook Board.
- Its nitrogenous bases make pairs with the N-bases' of new nucleotides. In
this way, both template strands make new polynucleotide strands in front of them.
- Important class 10 biology chapter 6 notes pdf for all students of Punjab Textbook Board.
- Write down scientific name of pea plant. How many pea plants were used by Mendel.
- What is meant by monohybrid and dihybrid cross?
- Important 10th class biology chapter 6 question answer for all students of Punjab Textbook Board.
- What will be the genotype and phenotype of plants produced as a result of cross
between red flowered and white flowered" four-o-clock" plants?
- What is Difference between Natural selection and Artificial selection?
- Important 10th class biology chapter 6 notes for all students of Punjab Textbook Board.
- What is the relation of favorable variations with natural selection?
- Write down the bonding between nitrogenous bases in DNA model.
- How biotechnology has helped us in improving the environment?
- Important class 10 biology ch 6 notes for all students of Punjab Textbook Board.
- For which purpose checker board is used? What is Test Cross? Why is it needed?
- Write a note on Replication of DNA OR Explain Watson-Crick Model of DNA. OR How
does DNA of Chromosome Works? Explain.
- Important 10th class biology chapter 6 important questions for all students of Punjab Textbook Board.
- Who was Mendel? Why Mendel selected pea plant for his experiments?
- What do you mean by natural selection? Explain it. OR Explain "Mechanism of
Evolution - Natural Selection".
- Important 10th class biology chapter 6 exercise for all students of Punjab Textbook Board.
- Genotype and its Types: The specific combination of genes in an individual is
known as genotype. It is of two types i.e. homozygous
and heterozygous. In order to understand the concept
of genotype, let us consider an example trait i.e.
albinism (a condition in which normal body pigments
are absent). Like other traits, it is also controlled by one
pair of genes.
- Important biology class 10 chapter 6 short notes for all students of Punjab Textbook Board.
- We can represent the two alleles of the
pair as ‘A’ and ‘a’. Three combinations i.e. genotypes
are possible for these two alleles i.e. AA, Aa, and aa.
These genotypes can be grouped into two types. The
genotype in which the gene pair contains two identical
alleles (AA or aa), is called homozygous genotype.
- Important biology class 10 chapter 6 full explanation for all students of Punjab Textbook Board.
- The
genotype in which the gene pair contains two different
alleles (Aa), is called heterozygous genotype.
When in the heterozygous condition one allele masks
or prevents the expression of the other, it is called the dominant allele. The allele which is not
expressed is called recessive.
- Important class 10th biology chapter 6 important notes for all students of Punjab Textbook Board.
- The dominant alleles are represented by capital letters and recessive alleles by lower case letters.
Albinism is a recessive trait i.e. it is produced when both alleles are recessive. In humans, allele ‘A’
produces normal body pigments while allele ‘a’ does not produce pigments.
- Important 10th class biology chapter 6 short questions pdf for all students of Punjab Textbook Board.
- If genotype is AA or
Aa, the individual will produce pigments. On the other hand, if genotype is aa, no pigments will be
produced and the individual will be albino. In this example, you see that the allele ‘A’ dominates
over ‘a’, because in Aa indiviual pigments are produced and the effect of ‘a’ is suppressed by ‘A’.

- The expression of this genotype in the form of trait (in our example, being albino or having normal
pigmentation) is known as the phenotype.
