  • The word Qur'an comes from "Qur'an" which means to read, because the Holy Qur'an is the only book that is read the most in the world, so it is called the Qur'an. The Holy Qur'an is the last book of Allah, the Almighty. He revealed it to his last prophet Hazrat Muhammad (P.B.U.H). The Holy Qur'an is the only book of the world that is preserved in the same way as it was revealed by Allah, saying:
  • Translation: Verily, We have sent down (this) Dhikr (Qur'an) and verily, We are the ones who say to protect it. (Surah al-Hijr: 9)
  • The Holy Qur'an is the last and universal book of Allah Ta'ala, just as the Prophet (P.B.U.H) is the last prophet (P.B.U.H) of Allah Ta'ala and his message is to all the worlds. Similarly, the Book revealed to you (P.B.U.H) is also the source of wisdom and guidance for all mankind. The Holy Qur'an is not a guide for any particular nation or time, but for all mankind until the Day of Resurrection.
  • Compilation and editing of the Holy Quran:
  •  Most of the Companions of the Holy Prophet (P.B.U.H), may God bless him and grant him peace, had the Holy Qur'an orally during his lifetime. The Prophet (P.B.U.H) used to make a special arrangement to write the Quranic verses immediately after the revelation of the Holy Quran. The complete Quran was written during the lifetime of the Holy Prophet (P.B.U.H). During the Prophetic period, the Holy Quran was usually written on stones, leather, palm bark and camel shoulder bones, Which were specially prepared for this purpose. Thus, the Holy Qur'an was fully memorized and written in different places during the Prophet's era.
  • The need to collect the Holy Qur'an under official custody was felt during the caliphate of Hazrat Abu Bakr Siddique (RA) when hundreds of guardians of the Holy Qur'an were martyred in the Battle of Yamama. With the help of Allah Ta'ala, the Muslims were victorious in this war, but at that time it was felt that if the protectors continued to be martyred in the same way in the future, then no part of the Holy Quran would be lost. Hazrat Abu Bakr Siddiq, may Allah be pleased with him, started the compilation and editing of the Holy Quran with the advice of Hazrat Umar Farooq, may Allah be pleased with him, and other Jalil-ul-Qadr Companions, may Allah be pleased with him. Hazrat Abu Bakr Siddique (RA) on the advice of his Companions (RA) selected the famous Quran reciter Hazrat Zayd bin Thabit (RA) to complete this great work.
