- Definition and Importance of Textiles and Clothing
- Textiles is the discovery of the fibers that we get from plants and animals and after passing them through various factors to produce cloth. From which our clothes are made which is the most important and basic need of our life.
- Definition of Textiles: Textile is a Latin word meaning to weave. It is the sector of industry and craft where various types of cotton, woolen silk and self-made fabrics are prepared with complementary factors on natural or manmade fibers.
- Definition of Clothing: Garment refers to clothing made from fibers. which are used to cover the body for personal identification and decoration. Be it grass, leaves and skins or made from natural and self-made fibers of the present era. Anything used to cover the body is called clothing. Ancient people lived in forests and covered their bodies with tree leaves, bark and animal skins. Therefore, this was their dress in those times.
- Importance of Textile and Clothing Studies:
- The study of cloth weaving and clothing is very important because as soon as the world came into being, man used some kind of clothes to cover himself, protect him from heat and cold and to make his personality attractive and for this it is said that It became necessary to know why some clothes are stronger and more durable.
- On the basis of what reasons different papers are chosen on different occasions? Why is it important to wash clothes that are used a lot? Why does the choice of clothes keep changing depending on the season?
- In other words, the study of fibers is a science that provides information about the texture and properties of fabrics for household use and wear. This knowledge is very deep and wide. Because till some time ago the papers were of limited type. Due to the simple way of life of the people, the use of papers was not much.
- (Fibers) Definition of Fiber.
- It is two strands of raw material from which thread is made and this thread is used in making cloth as fiber is the main component in making clothes. For example, cotton is a common bread, but cotton is a collection of innumerable fibers which, after cleaning, are passed through various stages and converted into yarn, and from this yarn, all cotton fabrics are made. Similarly, woolen cloth is prepared from the wool of the sheep, which is converted into yarn after passing through various factors.
- The fibers of silk, rayon, and polyester fabrics are in the form of yarn. Some threads are in the form of continuous strands, i.e. very fine threads of the same type. Thread is of two types. One is that which is made by spinning small fibers (Fibers) and the other is a continuous fiber (Filament) which does not need to be spun.
